This is an opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a purpose-driven organisation that plays a meaningful role in shaping its sector.

Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Communications & Engagement to lead communications, engagement and sponsorship activity, strengthening influence, deepening stakeholder relationships and supporting the long-term sustainability of the organisation.

Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the senior leadership team, this role is responsible for ensuring the organisation's purpose, advocacy and programmes are clearly articulated and actively engaged with across industry, government, members, partners and the wider public.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead an integrated communications and engagement strategy aligned to organisational purpose, strategic priorities and financial sustainability
  • Translate complex programmes and advocacy into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences
  • Strengthen the organisation's brand, reputation and position as a trusted and influential voice within the sector
  • Oversee media relations, thought leadership and key external communications

Key areas of focus Communications & Engagement

  • Set and deliver a cohesive communications and engagement strategy
  • Establish and track meaningful KPIs to measure reach, impact and engagement

Sponsorships, Partnerships & Sector Relationships

  • Lead the development and promotion of sponsorship and partnership offerings
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, partners and sector stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively to articulate clear value propositions that support organisational sustainability

Brand, Reputation & Influence

  • Lead brand and reputation management aligned to a for-purpose mandate
  • Elevate the organisation's profile through strategic media engagement and thought leadership

Campaigns & Digital

  • Oversee integrated campaigns that drive awareness, participation and engagement
  • Lead digital channels including website, CRM, email marketing and social media
  • Use insights and data to continuously improve performance and reach

Internal Communications & Leadership

  • Provide strategic oversight of internal communications
  • Support the CEO and senior leaders with messaging during change and major initiatives
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing communications and engagement team
  • Manage the function's budget with a focus on value and impact

About you You'll bring:

  • Senior leadership experience across communications, engagement, marketing or a related discipline
  • A strong track record working with industry, government and sector stakeholders
  • Experience leading sponsorships and partnerships
  • Excellent strategic thinking, influencing and relationship-management skills
  • Commercial acumen combined with a genuine commitment to purpose-driven work
