Retail Buyer

Yi Cart Asian Supermarket is a well-established Asian supermarket based in Auckland, serving both retail and wholesale customers. We specialize in sourcing fresh produce, food products, and grocery items from Asia and local suppliers, providing high-quality and diverse products to our community.

We are seeking two experienced and detail-oriented Retail Buyers to manage product sourcing and purchasing for our supermarket. The successful candidates will be responsible for selecting products, negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring our stores are stocked with competitive, high-quality products that meet customer demand.

Ideal candidates must have the followings:

At least 2 years relevant experience or a level 4 or above relevant qualification

Must be able to work on weekends and work overtime.

Must be flexible to work early-morning and late-night shifts.

Job Responsibilities:

Source, select, and purchase fresh produce, food, and grocery products from Asian and local suppliers

Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers

Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost-effective purchasing

Monitor inventory levels, sales trends, and stock turnover to minimize waste and shortages

Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and retail teams to ensure timely delivery and product availability

Conduct market research to identify new products, trends, and customer preferences

Ensure all purchased products comply with New Zealand food safety and import regulations

Handle supplier documentation, invoices, and purchase orders accurately

Support both retail and wholesale purchasing needs
