Our Bay of Plenty based service is seeking a fulltime qualified and experienced social worker to join the team. This role will see you utilise the full range of your practice skills including working with children and adults in 1:1, and group settings, facilitating group programmes, networking with other services, and advocating for children and whānau to ensure they have a better life. You will be responsible for ensuring service provision is delivered to a high standard whilst building relationships with the local community and working as part of a team where professional development is greatly valued. This role will be based at the Tauranga office however a lot of your work will be out in the community.

To be successful in this role we need to know you have:

  • Commitment to work from a culturally responsive perspective and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Preferably 3+ years social work experience
  • The ability to develop and maintain relationships in the community
  • Outstanding communication and people skills
  • Great self-management
  • Well developed assessment, case analysis and case recording skills
  • A recognised Social Work degree
  • Full registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB)
  • Proven skills in risk assessment, trauma informed approaches and strength based practice principles
  • The ability to engage with tamariki, rangatahi and whānau where there may be care and protection concerns for children
  • Strong ability to work across cultures and adapt to change in the current social service environment
