This is a 12-month contract opportunity.

Our Internal Audit team provides independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls to the Suncorp Group Board Audit Committee (BAC), Board Audit & Risk Committee (BARC), subsidiary Board committees, Group Executives, external auditors and regulatory bodies. We also provide risk management and internal control advice to business units.

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Senior Internal Auditor to help deliver high quality audits which assist the organisation achieve its objectives through promotion of effective internal controls.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Delivering reliable assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment across the insurance function.
  • Performing and/or supporting end to end audits, project reviews and special ad-hoc reviews in accordance with Suncorp Audit methodology and professional auditing standards.
  • Conducting the entrance meeting at the beginning of each audit, in conjunction with the Audit Manager.
  • Prepare work papers and risk and controls matrix.
  • Communicating audit findings to business management throughout the audit.
  • Analyse management action plans to ensure that risks will be controlled withing the board tolerance levels.
  • Helping to drive internal audit improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of audit delivery.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Financial Services, Internal Auditing and/or External Audit
  • Competencies in: Business knowledge and commercial awareness, client relationship management, audit technical skills and teamwork
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of accounting, auditing and/or risk management and the requirements of the Standards for the Professional Practice of the Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills with regards to hey audit observations
  • Extensive up-to-date business knowledge of the insurance sector, including a deep understanding of the key risks facing the sector
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite of products and audit documentation software
  • Degree or qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business
