**Mō tēnei tūranga mahi - About the role**
The role is underpinned by principles of social justice, bicultural practice, and empowering others to promote personal and social change. An important focus of this role will be providing leadership and teaching into the cultural contexts courses within the Bachelor of Social Work.
The successful applicant will work with a team of experienced social work educators who are committed to changing lives through opportunities brought about by education. This role ideally would suit a registered social worker who is passionate about practice and has an excellent reputation as a professional. This role may also appeal to an experienced educator or someone new to social work education who is seeking a change in the direction of their career.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills/Experience**
Required
- A minimum of five years' experience working in the social services sector
- Minimum qualification - a relevant Bachelor's degree
- Established networks with Māori social services providers
- Effective communication skills with a diverse range of others at all levels within and outside the organization
- Digital literacy including - competence using a computer
Desirable
- A relevant Master's degree
- Experience of Kaupapa Māori social service provision
- Prior teaching experience
- The ability to develop and implement flexible teaching and learning methods, including the suite of learning technologies
**Preference will be given to applicants who are Social Workers with full SWRB registration.**

The Department has over 800 full time equivalent students and a team of over 50 highly qualified professional educators, many of whom are active researchers. Programmes are offered at the Madras Street campus, with options for online/distance study in multiple programmes. A selection of department programmes are offered at the Ara campus in Timaru.
