Mō te tūnga | About the role
We're looking for an exceptional leader to lead a team of Bail Support Officers and whanau ora practitioners in Manawatū, in a fast-paced, dynamic and exciting environment. Bail Support Services is a team of people who are passionate about making a real difference for defendants and their whānau.
Bail Support Services have partnered with Rangitāne o Manawatū to deliver BSS, to give effect to the Articles of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi in our shared approach to improve the outcomes for Māori across Palmerston North. For more detail, refer to the included summarised version of the Partnership Agreement between Bail Support Service and Rangitāne o Manawatū.
To be successful in this position you will need to thrive on influencing change. You will be a strong people leader with positive working relationships within the community and will be comfortable managing operational requirements in a complex environment demonstrating leadership in enacting our partnership with Rangitāne o Manawatū.
Well-developed relationship management skills are essential as the role requires significant stakeholder engagement including with iwi, the community as well as internal stakeholders. Your ability to take strategy and create actions will be pivotal for this role. You will take Ara Poutama Aotearoa and Justice Sector strategies and create operational actions for the team to deliver.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
You will have direct influence across a range of areas and will be responsible for and need to demonstrate an ability to:

- Establish, lead, coach, motivate, influence and build resilience in teams of Bail Support Officers
- Develop and build the professional capability of Bail Support Officers and ensure quality decisions and outcomes
- Proven track record building effective working relationships to achieve outcomes, with a broad cross section of people by taking a collaborative and consultative approach, particularly with iwi and kaupapa Māori services (or an ongoing commitment to professional development in this area)
- Delivers for, and demonstrates sensitivity towards Māori, and other cultures
- Understands tikanga and a kaupapa Māori approach
- Create a high performing team and lead them in their performance
- Identify and engage with stakeholders both within and outside the justice sector
- Take initiative by being a self-starter and motivated worker
- Improvement focused

Travel will be required for this role and therefore applicants will also need to hold a Full New Zealand Driver Licence.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The full salary range is $102,414 - $119,483. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role
