About the role

Our Road Maintenance crews in Waitaki are rapidly growing with plenty of exciting projects to work on. We have exciting opportunities for experienced and newbie Patrol Person’s to join the dedicated, and supportive Oamaru based crew where you will get to grow your skill set with a variety of work whilst also having a good time with the team.

You will enjoy spending your work days outdoors, work regular hours with the occasional call out, and you don't mind putting in the mahi. This role is the perfect entry point into the civil construction industry (one of the few unaffected by covid worldwide) where we will provide you will all the training you need to grow a successful career with us.

As our Patrol Person, you will undertake small road maintenance and urgent repair work across the district to ensure the safety of the public. Day to day this will consist:
Pothole repairs

Sign maintenance and repairs

Clearing of vegetation and litter collection

Clearing obstructions from carriageway, footpaths, and drainage systems

Cleaning and maintaining culvert inlets and outlets as well as roadside furniture

You will be a part of a team that designs, builds, and maintains 25,000 kms worth of roads in Aotearoa. About you

No experience, no problem, we will give you all the training you need. However, it is essential that you hold a current Class 2 Drivers License in addition to:
A can-do attitude responding appropriately to urgent and hazardous jobs

Able to work efficiently while unsupervised

show good initiative and confidence in decision making and problem solving

Available to respond to afterhours call outs when rostered

Confident communicating with the public and management

Show commitment to a Zero Harm environment
