**Mō te Tūranga | About the Role**

We’re looking for a Specialist, Data Engineer to join IAG’s Enterprise Data Domain. This permanent full-time role will be based at either Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch and allows you to work flexibly from home and the office. We offer a structured and attractive work-life balance and an engaging team environment.

This role will see you working in a highly agile environment, adapting to business changes and strategic priorities. The purpose of the role and your unique contribution is to build resilient, scalable, data pipelines to transform and present data products through interfaces/APIs. You will use your knowledge and expertise to build data solutions that are aligned with IAG’s data strategy and the data domain roadmap, delivering our data products, and providing acceleration and outcome assurance to stakeholders.

You will be involved in taking the lead in developing, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines and models related to financial and reserving data, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

**Ōu Pūkenga | ABOUT YOU**

We're seeking a Data Engineer with strong analytical and critical thinking skills with diligence and excellent attention to detail along with the following experience:

- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or technical-related degree or business equivalent
- Experience in data engineering, data modelling and data analysis
- Strong proficiency in dbt (data build tool) and Cloud Data Engineering technologies (Google BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage or Azure/AWS/Snowflake/Databricks equivalent)
- Strong experience with SQL, Python, and other scripting languages
- Work in an Agile approach and contribute to a team culture of cross-skilling and knowledge sharing.
- Mission-driven and passionate about migrating the IAG data world from the legacy on-premises data warehouse to the strategic IAG Google Data Platform in Google Cloud
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Experience working in a large complex organisation is preferred.
