We are looking for a strong leader who is customer-oriented, and with a blend of operational & strategic expertise for this key leadership role within the Parliamentary Catering group. The Catering Operations team provides a world class experience for functions and events held at venues within the Parliament precinct.

The Parliamentary Catering Team is dedicated to showcasing New Zealand's premium hospitality services & products; and delivering memorable experiences at Parliament. The team manages a number of food and beverage venues within the Parliamentary precinct; each offering a different and unique experience; these include the Copperfields café, Pickwick's bar, and New Zealand's premium dining cuisine restaurant - Bellamys by Logan Brown. A further function of the team is providing catering and hospitality services for the numerous functions that are held on the Parliamentary precinct.

We are seeking a high performing leader to bring their experience to Parliament, managing the operational functions of the Parliamentary Catering team. Bring your previous experience in the hospitality sector and help to ensure the delivery of exemplary customer service and a financially sustainable operations model. The Catering Operational teams cover the functions, event management, and the On the Move Service (Trolley and Room Service), ensuring service expectations of the Parliament and its stakeholders are met.

The Operations Manager will also drive for the development and implementation of key innovative and strategic initiatives on behalf of the Catering Leadership team, to enhance the overall customer experience and delivery of the Catering Operations and the wider Parliamentary Catering group.

**Ngā haepapa** **|**Responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership to the Catering Operations team to ensure the team are meeting their objectives and delivering for their customers. This will include mentoring and coaching direct reports to ensure they are meeting Parliamentary Catering group standards, expectations and goals. The Operations Manager will develop a positive, highly engaged, performance culture that is embedded in everything the team does
- Build trust-based relations with all staff, key partners and stakeholders
- Make high-quality financial and operational planning decisions to advance the business and ensure commercial viability
- Responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all operational employees at all times.
- Ensure that the highest standards of food handling and safety are complied with.
- Manage the front of house operations and logistics of all food and beverage outlets within its remit (including On the Move room and trolley services) to ensure a high standard of customer service is consistently provided across all outlets and to expected standards and timeframes.
- Implement operational systems and processes to maintain service levels and manage operating costs against budgets
- Co-design and implement financial sustainable Parliamentary Catering product offerings and service packages with the General Manager Parliamentary Catering, Hospitality Business Development & Marketing Lead, and Functions Coordinator; in order to leverage on sales and marketing opportunities to potential and existing clients in order to build short and long term revenue streams
- Drive the development and implementation of key innovative and strategic initiatives including continuous improvement projects on behalf of the Catering Leadership team, to ensure the Parliamentary Catering group vision and business plan objectives/prioritises are achieved and supported by key people, policy, process, and technology enablers
- Provide regular reporting across operational revenue and costings, food and beverage stock inventory, and other reporting needs

- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in a similar operations management role within the hospitality environment, and with responsibilities of managing staff
- Strong leadership qualities and a genuine passion for the industry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to compose clear written

communications
- Excellent planning, organisation and service delivery skills and expertise with attention to detail and the ability to lead confidently and strategically in a Parliamentary environment
- Proven time management skills and expertise, with the ability to prioritise workflows and meet deadlines across conflicting and evolving customer requirements and demands
- Strong relationship builder both internally and externally with ability to instil confidence and get outcomes achieved
- Strong financial and business management abilities with an overall focus on customer service
- Customer-focused attitude with ability to problem solve
