**Role Objective**

This senior data operations management role is set-up to ensure that the Valocity business has the capability and resources to develop, operate and maintain internal and external facing global data services, as well as providing a stimulating and satisfying work environment with continuous learning opportunities for the team. This means adopting high levels of automation and careful process control to take raw, often inconsistent data and turn it into structured, quality-controlled, analytics-ready data. A further key aspect of this role will also be coaching and mentoring team members building sustainable bench strength and secession planning. This person will also participate in the overall strategy of the Valocity Data team, providing input into continuous improvement, value optimisation and opportunity identification and quantification.

**Key responsibilities**

Strategy & Vision
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business to understand the evolving operational data needs of Valocity and its clients.
- Collaborate with members of the analytics, data science and research teams to deliver new data needs.
- Work closely with the Product Owners, Heads of Analytics and Data Science and the CDO to ensure freely flowing communication and alignment of priorities.

Leading Teams
- The team will be responsible for sourcing raw data, extracting structured data from unstructured documents, aligning data to a data model and validating it.
- Working with the team to develop proof-of-concept capabilities and finding ways to integrate them into a production data pipeline.
- Developing the team to ensure Valocity has a breadth of developing expertise and provide input on the resourcing and capability gaps that may arise with evolving business scale
- Foster an agile, high-performance, collaborative culture which is creative, open, supportive and dynamic with a continuous improvement mindset at the core.

Operational Excellence & Quality
- Ensure the team ways of working are aligned with Product squads and ensuring effective timely delivery on key deliverables
- Able to work with client relationship team in understanding how clients view data quality and using that understanding to implement validation processes to enforce that quality
- Ensure strong team emphasis on automation and scalability
- Ensure that the right data is available to analytics, data science and research teams to produce high quality, timely data-driven analysis, insight and content.
- Define metrics to measure data coverage, data completeness, and data accuracy and lead the team to develop real-time dashboards and reports for measuring these metrics
- Learn and understand Valocity’s data pipelines and the tools used to manage data through that pipeline

**Who you are**
Education/qualifications
- Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or related degree with strong numerical analysis components

Prior experience
- Minimum 10 years accumulated experience managing and facilitating change in reporting/analytics/data engineering teams

Technical knowledge/Skills
- Demonstrable experience successfully leading data teams operating in an Agile framework through technology and operating model transformations
- Demonstrable experience managing a high performing geographically dispersed data team consistently meeting service management and service delivery targets
- Excellent understanding of data security, governance and compliance obligations both internally and as relates to the industries that our clients operate in
- Ability to facilitate incident management, issue identification, problem solving and analysis
- Competent SQL and/or Python. Exposure to other data engineering, visualization and data science tools will be advantageous
- Good understanding of traditional and non-traditional data architectures and cloud based data platform solutions
- Competent in Microsoft Office suite of Productivity Applications
