Meridian Energy is a leading generator and supplier of electricity to many New Zealand homes and businesses and have an opportunity for a new Planning Specialist to bring his/ her energy and expertise to the team.

Reporting to the Head of Work Planning, the role plays a key part in coordinating and scheduling major plant upgrade projects as well as routine preventive plant maintenance and reactive maintenance/fault resolution across Meridian’s generation sites. Through your particular skillset, you will enable the delivery of planning that future-proofs portfolio generation capacity optimisation and workforce allocation, and in so doing identify gaps and opportunities to promote the development and achievement of longer-term strategic objectives. The role is ideally based in Meridian’s Christchurch, Wellington or Twizel office locations but could be based elsewhere in the country.

**About you**:

- A level of confidence and ability to manage relationships with a diverse range of internal stakeholders from different business units within Meridian
- Ability to think strategically and plan for the longer-term up to five years ahead
- A logical thinker, capable of absorbing and analysing complex information, understanding business requirements and numerous constraints to develop a credible plan
- Flexibility to adapt and accommodate changes to planning as situations and requirements change
- Ability to pull a range of information and people together - coordinating with multiple teams and departments
- Highly organised, with the ability to deliver consistently, and comfortable working to deadlines
- Commercial acumen to understand the business’ value chain and consider market conditions in order to plan effectively for optimal timing of work
- Naturally engaging with a practical, can-do attitude and passion for providing solutions
- Capable of working autonomously and as part of a team
- An effective communicator, able to convey complex information and ideas in a simple, easily understandable way to a diverse audience using a variety of communication media and forums
