The mahi
At the Department of Internal Affairs, the work we do makes it possible for community groups and charities to not only access funding, but also to learn the best way to manage themselves to be as effective as possible.
At Ngā Rātonga Kaupapa Atawhai, Charities Services, we promote trust and confidence in charities, encourage good governance, support charities' efficiency and effectiveness and require charities to comply with their obligations under the law. Our vision is that our work contributes to a well-governed, transparent and thriving charitable sector with strong public support.
You will contribute to the intellectual leadership and development of the Registration Team staff and take responsibility for research into developments in charities law and for improving the team's knowledge and capability of complex areas.
You ideally have a background in law, or alternatively experience in a legal environment or, regulation and governmental processes. You have experience reading and interpreting legal documents, case law and legislation.
Charities Services sits within the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). As DIA is an agent of the Crown, Te Tiriti o Waitangi is important to everything we do. You will also have knowledge in, or the desire to learn about Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and obligations, tikanga and te ao Māori concepts.
