Cybercrime is the most rapidly growing crime type globally, causing significant harm to individuals and organisations across the country. New Zealand Police are the lead agency in investigating cybercrime and need qualified people to join an expanding team. We are looking for high performing dynamic people to work in teams across the country, who can provide expert support to investigations.
This role presents a great opportunity at all levels to develop new skills and contribute to an ever changing environment. The New Zealand Police Cybercrime Unit is part of the High-Tech Crime Group and play a crucial role in all digital aspects of an investigation. You will receive training and gain valuable on the job experience as you become an expert in complex cybercrime investigations.
The New Zealand Police Cybercrime Unit have multiple positions available, at either Specialist, Investigator or Assistant levels, based in Wellington.
Technical Assistant
This role is for a recent graduate in a Computer Security course or equivalent experience (2 years minimum) in Information Computer Technology incident response and/or security role.
Technical Investigator
This role is for a graduate with an Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience (3 years minimum) in Information Computer Technology incident response and/or security role.
Within this role you will be expected to complete internationally recognised training and have practical, real world cybercrime investigative experience.
Technical Specialist
This role is for a graduate with a Master’s Degree or equivalent experience (5 years minimum) in Information and Communications Technology incident response and/or security role.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Be self-motivated and ready to learn, have excellent organisational, research, and communication skills
- Pay attention to detail and have the flexibility to cope with change
- Be capable of making sound decisions under pressure
- Work well and communicate positively in a team environment
**Special Requirements**:
- Clean and current (full) Driver’s license
- IT qualification or work experience within an IT related field
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance
