**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
Play a pivotal role in our continuous development programme and ensure that the statutory documents are fit for purpose and respond to growth pressures and emerging issues. Be part of the ongoing development of Auckland’s region-wide and district resource management policy. The lead planner will be setting best practice and developing training on plan changes, notices of requirement, and spatial plans. Leading research into policy and planning issues and complex projects within the department. Responding to national policy changes and advising on policy implications of regulatory and non-regulatory shifts in resource management practice.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
To be successful in this role you’ll need to possess both excellent interpersonal skills and technical expertise as a planner. You will be seeking to progress your career in policy theory, statutory district planning and regional planning topics, as well as having the ability to lead research. An excellent understanding of the Resource Management Act and Local Government Act with a qualification in planning (or related field) is essential. You will be committed to upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi - partnership, participation and protection.
