Looking to join the Whakapapa whānau over summer 2024/25 - Expressions of interest are now open for limited summer vacancies.

The Whakapapa whānau are a small but ambitious team, running year-round operations on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu. In winter, from June until October, this includes a world-class ski area. In summer, from December until April, this includes our summer sightseeing operation, heroing our iconic Sky Waka gondola. Each year we welcome hundreds of thousands of manuhiri (guests) to Whakapapa, many with life-long connections to the maunga (mountain) and surrounding region, some even third or fourth generation.

Join our awesome summer whānau and help us create unforgettable experiences for our sightseeing guests while also lending a hand to the permanent team as they gear up for winter from late November to April. We’re on the lookout for talent in several key areas:

- Summer Patrol
As part of the Summer Operations team, you will play a key role in providing first aid support to guests and staff. Working alongside the Safety Services Manager, you’ll oversee all aspects of Whakapapa’s summer trail offering, support emergency evacuation responses for the gondola, and provide guest education and information. You’ll also assist with refuse recovery throughout the summer. This role requires a range of mountain skills to manage Whakapapa’s challenging terrain. Key skills: First Aid and Working at Heights certification
- Food and Beverage
We’re searching for hospitality legends to serve up the best coffee and food at Knoll Ridge Café. Whether you're behind the scenes or in the spotlight, if you’ve got experience in hospitality or a keen interest, we want to hear from you Roles include:

- Supervisor - Ensure front-of-house operations run smoothly, acting as the go-to person between the front and back of house to provide top-notch guest service.
- Food and Beverage Coordinator - Help keep the gears turning, supporting the F&B Manager with administrative tasks like managing distribution administration and payroll.
- Sous Chef / Cook - Dive into the kitchen to prepare tasty dishes that keep guests coming back for more.
- Barista - Elevate our guests' experience with your coffee art, serving the best brews on the maunga.
- Attendant (Distribution and Cleaning) - Help keep things running smoothly and maintain a sparkling clean environment
- Guest Services and Retail

The transferred ownership of the Tūroa ski area to Pure Tūroa Limited in April 2024 and are continuing to work on the sale of Whakapapa._
