Café Manager

Zest Café is a busy and vibrant café in Gisborne, offering variety of breakfast, lunch and cabinet food, which are made freshly from the best seasonal local ingredients. We take pride in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our patrons and are seeking a Café Manager to join our team.

Job description - Key Responsibilities:

- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise café front of house staff
- Monitor budgets to ensure that the café remains profitable.
- Setting menu prices in alignment with the cafe budget
- Listen to customer preferences and make suggestions for menu items
- Preparing weekly work schedules for staff
- Ensuring that all café expenses are within budget and identifying ways to decrease operational costs.
- Taking inventory of café supplies and ordering new stock as needed.
- Receiving delivered café supplies and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered.
- Resolving customer complaints regarding food quality and customer service.
- Suggesting new menu items based on customers' preferences and feedback.
- Identifying strategies to retain and attract customers.
- Ensuring dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, functional and of suitable appearance.
- Planning menus in conjunction with Chefs
- Take reservations and greet guests

Experience required:
Must have at least one year’s experience assistant manager or above in a café or restaurant

A relevant diploma or above in business, management or hospitality management

Skills must include:

Employment is permanent and is for a minimum of 30hrs a week

Rostered work will be between these hours: 5am to 3pm Monday to Friday, 6am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday.

Pay rate $30 to $32 per hour depending on experience

Applicants must be also be able to work public holidays
