**Lyttelton Engineering have been an integral part of the Port of Lyttelton since 1953. They are one of Canterbury’s largest engineering companies and has proven itself to be one of the province’s leading marine and industrial / fabrication facilities.**

They currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented and passionate Design Engineer to join their team at the dockside for a full-time, permanent position. 40 hours a week (8am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday). The purpose of the role is to develop, detail and produce working drawings of engineering solutions to support the company's Mechanical Design Engineering and Workshop, Industrial and Marine service Functions.

**What the role entails**:

- 3D modelling of complex large mechanical assemblies and projects using SolidWorks 3D software
- Preparation of workshop drawings in an accurate, clear & concise manner for manufacturing purposes, and for presentation to clients
- Preparation of.dxf files for workshop CNC machinery (profile cutter)
- Managing the digital storage of Engineering models and drawings
- Maintaining the company’s SolidWorks 3D software licences and libraries, including implementation of new technology and features as they become available
- Releasing and controlling hard copies of manufacturing drawings to the workshop
- Monitoring production and seeking feedback from workshop staff during manufacture of designs

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Tertiary level qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound knowledge of Mechanical Engineering design principles
- High level of proficiency in SolidWorks 3D software
- Knowledge of process heat solutions (steam and hot water boilers, combustion systems, piping) an advantage
- Must be able to work as part of a team and to manage / prioritise workload to meet the needs of the organisation
