**The role**
We are looking for a trusted senior clinical leader for our client’s clinical workforce. As the most senior clinical position of a large, complex national organisation, the Deputy Chief Executive - Clinical Services is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for contributing to strategic direction and providing strategic clinical advice to the Chief Executive and the Board.
This role focuses on delivering and maintaining safe clinical services, ensuring robust clinical governance frameworks across all healthcare services, promoting health equity and quality improvement for Hauora Māori, as well as providing clinical leadership and further developing effective clinical education.
**Responsibilities**
Developing and overseeing successful delivery of the clinical component of the organisation’s strategy, the Deputy Chief Executive - Clinical Services ensures clinical capability is consistent by;
- overseeing the continuing clinical development of the clinical workforce
- driving an environment of ‘best practice’ - ultimately enhancing patient care.
Leading by example, the Deputy Chief Executive - Clinical Services instils clinical excellence across the organisation. This role will ensure robust clinical safety & quality processes and risk management arrangements are in place, while identifying opportunities for efficiency and continuous improvement in service delivery.
The role is responsible for driving change, innovation and improvement in overall healthcare delivery by developing and overseeing an effective clinical governance framework, including enhanced patient safety and quality measures, a comprehensive clinical risk register, and improved patient outcomes.
As the organisation’s senior clinical representative at a national level, this role is also expected to foster strong effective partnerships; liaising with government and collaborating with external entities and organisations e.g. Health New Zealand and the Māori Health Authority and other health care providers and NGOs. The strength of these relationships will facilitate enhanced clinical service delivery and transformation, maximizing patient benefits and health outcomes.
You will be a positive leader and role model, inspiring a diverse clinical workforce and building a supportive, fair and open culture of high performance, encouraging and enabling people to be the best they can.
**Your background**
- A registered health practitioner, preferably with a specialist post graduate qualification
- Experience working at a senior/general management level in in a medium to large health organisation with responsibility for emergency/critical dependency services, and/or previous primary care experience
- Experience with a large clinical workforce in a dynamic and complex organisation
- Solid understanding of quality processes and risk management
- An understanding of the importance of improving Hauroa Māori, and proven experience implementing initiatives that support this
- A demonstrated commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi | Te Tiriti o Waitangi and valuing diversity.
