This young man loves his car, being social, playing sports and is working towards moving out of home. He has employment so is available to work on his independence goals one to two days a week with his new support worker. The support worker would be required to complete monthly reports on goal progress and will be expected to source new opportunities for the client's skill growth, with the help of the wider team.

We have more than 300 worksites and support options across the whole Auckland region from Warkworth to Waiuku.

In Supported Independent Living, we provide services for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities within their own homes and out into their community. We provide 1:1 support which consists of a range of hours between 6am to 9pm Monday to Sunday.

As a Community Support Worker you take on tasks that are dynamic and will depend on the needs and dreams of each person. You provide assistance with daily activities such as community participation, socializing, work or education, personal cares and domestic chores, as well as responsibility for reporting and administration.

Skills & Experience

Empathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disability
Energy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lot
Ability to remain calm, and calming, in all situations
Resilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safety
Good at explaining and negotiating
Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you support
Ability and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills

An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification
- we can support you to achieve this while you work
Experience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary
Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people
A full New Zealand driver's licence
Able to pass a NZ police check

- a relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) — this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.
