Community Support Worker
- Fulltime, 40 hours per week
- $23.38 - $29.10 per hour
- West Auckland location

At Spectrum Care, we support adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to live great lives.

Solan house has 4 lovely ladies in their late 50's - 60's who require a high level of support with personal cares, feeding and toileting. They love to go out for a ride or a walk at the park and beach. Their favourite activity is going shopping and enjoying a coffee at the local coffee shop. One of the ladies attend community activities at our Aspirations centre. When they spend the day indoors they enjoy listening to music and assist with tending and watering the plants.

We are looking for people with patience and empathy to care for our ladies and that could include anything from providing companionship to arranging GP appointments, medication management or transportation. If you have a nursing background or experience working with people with intellectual disabilities in a rest home or residential setting then we want to hear from you

You must be fluent in English both verbal and written.

**Skills & Experience**
- Empathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disability
- Energy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lot
- Ability to remain calm, and calming, in all situations
- Resilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safety
- Good at explaining and negotiating
- Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you support
- Ability and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills

**Applicants requiring visa support please note skill requirements are;**
- at least 3 years of relevant work experience, or
- a relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) — this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.
- An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification
- we can support you to achieve this while you work
- Experience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary
- Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
- Able to pass a NZ police check
