Reporting to the HR Director for the New Zealand business, you will be required to drive an integrated approach, engaging with key stakeholders to provide specialist advice and continue to implement and oversee strategies, frameworks, policies and procedures to support Restaurant Brand’s commitment to providing a safe and healthy place to work for all its employees.
Key to the success of this role will be someone who can build relationships across the organisation quickly and continue to implement and drive our H&S strategy. You will need to be proactive, organised and a stickler for detail.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

- Partnering with the business at all levels, providing expert advice on Health and Safety issues and best practice;
- Effective leadership in the development and execution of Health and Safety systems and programmes of work;
- Promoting a culture of open reporting of hazards and incidents, working proactively to ensure all risks, hazards, near misses and incidents are reported in a timely and effective manner and introducing initiatives aimed at reducing risk and preventing incidents;
- Ensuring that the appropriate safety risk management systems and practices are in place across the organisation to appropriately manage our obligations
- Maintaining our excellent ACC accredited employers programme, accident/injury management and hazard management, and ensure that these remain effective in meeting legislative and regulatory requirements;
- Promoting, championing and driving continuous improvement in H&S in order to ensure a proactive health and safety culture;
- Promoting engaging training methods to ensure the embedding of a Health, Safety and Wellness culture across the organisation;
- Developing, monitoring and managing H&S performance measures to ensure accurate reporting, flagging safety issues and providing insights.

Skills and Experience required:

- A relevant qualification in Health and Safety is preferred;
- Experience in a senior Health and Safety role, preferably in the QSR/Hospitality or a similarly hazardous multi-sited industry;
- Deep understanding of the Health and Safety legislative frameworks and best practice requirements;
- Working knowledge of the ACC Accredited Employers Programme (AEP) and previous experience managing ACC claims and return to work programmes via a Third Party Provider is preferred;
- Experience producing reports, data analysis and insights, along with strong attention to detail and investigative skills;
- Structured approach with strong organisation and planning skills;
- Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels, with the ability to influence and effect change;
- Exposure to leading a small team preferred;
- Knowledge of the Donesafe H&S system, as well as food safety legislative knowledge and/or exposure to QSR would be advantageous.
