**Mō te tūranga**| About the role**

We seek an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team to lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety systems across the Museum. You will foster a proactive and inclusive safety culture, promoting accountability and learning. You will consider the Museum’s unique operational and heritage context while providing expert advice across all Museum functions. This is a full-time and permanent role.

The role responsibilities include:

- Leadership and Policy Development
- Operational Risk Management
- Training, Capability and Culture
- Contractor and Site Safety Oversight
- Monitoring, Reporting and Compliance
- Collaboration and Engagement

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
**Ō pūmanawa**| What you will bring**
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant work experience, and be an active member of HASANZ, NZISM or similar
- 2+ years working experience as a leader in the Health & Safety field, in an operational environment
- Detailed knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and particularly Hazardous Substances Regulations 2017
- Knowledge of the New Zealand Museum Standards Scheme
- Experience in risk assessments and the development and monitoring of risk controls
- Knowledge of what good health and safety practices and performance looks like
- A good working knowledge of health and safety management systems
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a cross-department environment
- Effective organisational and communication skills
- Ability to establish, build and maintain great relationships both internally and externally, establishing trust and credibility
- Strong computer skills particularly with the Microsoft Office suite

Closing Date: Tuesday,** 16 September 2025**. Starting salary guide: $108,000 to $115,000 per annum dependant on relevant experience.
