Our National Aquarium of NZ is on the search for 2 Educators on a casual basis to support our Holiday Programmes.

As an Educator in this space, you assist with the planning, development and delivery of quality education programmes, that will enhance students' knowledge and understanding of freshwater and marine fauna, biodiversity, ecology and conservation.

**Responsibilities will include**
- Seek to develop engaging, innovative programmes and methods of delivery
- Work closely with the Education team in the development and/or revision of programmes in order to ensure we are providing the best possible learning experiences
- Deliver high-quality, effective, innovative and participatory education programmes that enhance participant learning
- Guide participants to engage in higher learning through use of primary resources, understanding context and stories surrounding objects and histories, and engaging with the unique resources available through the Aquarium
- Prepare reporting for Education Manager as required
- Contribute to the team’s monthly report on participant numbers and feedback as required

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- 1-2 years Proven experience in developing engagement, learning and/or participatory opportunities for young people aged 3 to 18 years
- Proven experience in working effectively with young people in a leadership or teaching role
- Understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum
- Excellent teaching skills, including: effective classroom management; understanding of and ability to adapt to a broad range of learning styles and levels; ability to engage, enthuse and inspire young people of all ages, especially school-age students
- Effective communication skills - spoken, written and digital
