**The Opportunity**

As a senior level engineer with a ‘hands-on’ approach to finding ingenious solutions and a passion for all things mechanical, you will excel as an integral part of this experienced and collaborative engineering team. Now is an exciting time to join the New Product Development team as they continue their extensive programme developing and releasing the next generation in water jet technology. New product development is at the centre of HamiltonJet’s strategy, and this role offers plenty of opportunity to make a significant contribution to the ongoing success of the company.

**What will I be doing?**

The primary purpose of the role is to co-ordinate all technical aspects of the evolving waterjet system design, ensuring an optimum and harmonised system solution is achieved that meets the product requirements. These requirements include Project Specification, Product and Manufacturing Objectives, HamiltonJet Design Standards and classification society rules. The role shall be responsible for the “architecture” of the product - the definition of the technical specifications and guide the trade-off process. Knowledge leadership is essential, and the Senior Systems Engineer is a key stakeholder in developing design processes, knowledge gap identification and closure and design review process. The Senior Systems Engineer shall also act as technical mentor for team members and lead the identification of development task structure and associated technical dependencies.

**What you will need to be successful?**

**Technical Skills**:

- A relevant tertiary engineering qualification
- A minimum of seven years directly relevant experience in mechanical product design and development in a manufacturing organisation
- Experience gained within the marine or capital equipment manufacturing sector, ideally with rotating machinery such as pumps, turbines, generators, engines, or transmission equipment would be highly regarded
- Sound 3D CAD capability and a working knowledge of structural requirements
- Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- Understanding of hydraulic system and circuit design
- Experience in managing development and test activities
- Experience in developing engineering processes and supporting documentation

**Non-Technical Skills**:

- Consistent displays of personal flexibility, positivity, and commitment
- Welcoming of collaboration and self-accountability
- Excellent communicator with strong people influencing skills
- Proven problem-solving capabilities within a complex technical environment
- Competency in conflict resolution
