Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) is a busy
diagnostic facility providing services to inpatients and outpatients at Te
Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury Hospitals within the province of Canterbury.
You will be working for the largest medical laboratory in the South
Island which is also a major secondary/tertiary referral center with a varied
and challenging caseload. CHL has an immediate catchment of circa 600,000
with wider provision to circa 1.2 million. CHL also provides a national service
for selected test.
The diagnostic Immunology section of CHL supports
clinicians in the diagnosis and management of patients with diseases resulting
from disorders of the immune systems within the broad group of systemic and
organ-based autoimmunity, autoinflammation allergy and primary and secondary
immunodeficiency.
The CHL Immunology Department has a
long-established expertise in development, analysis and clinical interpretation
of antibody assays, cellular immunophenotyping and functional immune
studies.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual
to join our team as a Section Head for Laboratory Services.

**As the Section Head, you will be responsible for**:

- The operational performance and daily

operation of the laboratory, ensuring it operates within an allocated and
approved financial, HR and capital budget.
- You will provide positive team
leadership using effective communication, manage accounts, variances, and
reports in a timely and accurate manner, and provide input and leadership
towards innovative and strategic direction of the laboratory.Ngā pūkenga me

**ngā wheako | Skills and Experience**:

- A strong scientific background and

registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand as a Medical
Laboratory Scientist
- They will maintain a high professional
standard in line with the competence standards for MLS practitioners
- Have a current Annual Practicing
Certificate issued by the MSC and possess significant experience at a senior
scientific level within the industry.
- Experience in
working knowledge of laboratory information systems, post-graduate
qualifications in management or medical laboratory science, and the ability to
support and work actively with staff to ensure appropriate professional
development.
