**The Opportunity**

Our client seeks to appoint two **Operations Supervisors** into newly created roles to that will see them spend equal amounts of time on the water skippering one of its passenger vessels and ashore directing the day-to-day operations of its service. At the heart of the business is its people and they pride themselves on maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction scores than any other operator on the passenger transport network managed by Auckland Transport (AT).

This is a leadership opportunity for a well experienced Senior Skipper who is wanting to take the next step in their maritime career.

**The Role**:
Working in a rotating roster you will have equal time in the office and on the water. This is a dual role divided between Duty Manager when in the office and a Senior Skipper when on the water.

As Duty Manager, you will be the first point of contact for all crew related issues and service disruptions for that day. This work varies considerably from day-to-day which could see you supervising contractors onsite to assisting in the development of company systems.

As a Senior Skipper, you will be operating one of the vessels within the fleet on its scheduled service. You will work alongside your duty crew and actively engage in training and development opportunities.

This role reports to the Business Delivery Manager and is supported by the company’s Operations and Compliance Officer.

**Responsibilities**:

- Planning and executing the day-to-day operation of the service
- Developing and managing the maritime rosters
- Motivating and maintaining positive relationships within the marine team
- Dealing with the challenges that arise in an operational environment.

**Requirements of the Operations Supervisor**:

- Passenger ferry service experience
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
- Great communication and interpersonal skills with an agile mindset
- Champion company policy and procedures
- Support training initiatives and guide junior skippers & crew with professional development.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Skipper Restricted Limits (SRL) with Pax and Highspeed Endorsement or higher
- Current First Aid Certificate
- MEC5 is highly advantageous
- Practical understanding of the Maritime Operator Safety System (MOSS)
- Previous experience in developing and maintaining a maritime roster
- Good IT skills and the ability to use business support software.
