At Auckland Transport, we are excited about putting our customers at the heart of everything we do in our vision to deliver "easy journeys" with safe, innovative and sustainable transport options for a vibrant, growing city. **Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity** A day in the life of Strategic Communications Lead looks like: - Developing/maintaining a roadmap for all external communications activity - Provide advice, guide and support teams across AT on their communication needs - Developing/reviewing external CEO and Board Communications - Produce well researched communications collateral for reports, publications, presentations - Issues management and response - Working with the C&T Learning Experience Team to ensure appropriate upskilling of communications specialists in the Community Hubs and other roles across AT that engage in external communications activities eg Project Managers - Coordinate with other CCO's relevant communication activity - Coach and mentor members of the Stakeholder, Communities and Communications team **Ko koe tēnei | About you** If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment on complex, inter-linked programmes of work that can be technical and ambiguous; you have experience in government, as well as developing and managing communications across a range of channels to tell one transport story; and are quick to identify risks and manage engagement with our external partners/stakeholders, then we need you. This is a key role within the team; you will be a strong communications practitioner, who is a motivated self-starter. You'll be capable of developing and delivering communications strategies for these programmes of work, to influence how local government and our partners develop a better system to meet their community needs. You will have a pragmatic approach to communications and be familiar with a range of tools. To succeed as a Strategic Communications Lead you will require: - Demonstrated depth and breath of experience working in a senior Communications role - Experience in developing and implementing communications strategies and plans - A sound understanding of the machinery of local government and demonstrated ability experience working effectively within a political environment - Proven ability to think strategically, understand issues within a wider business context and prepare and implement plans that meet strategic and tactical business needs - Experience in delivering long-term communications strategies - Experience managing and negotiating with a range of (senior) internal and external stakeholders and working with technical teams across different work streams and disciplines. - Crisis or issues management experience. **Ko wai mātou | About us** In addition, we also offer: - A chance to work on diverse projects - Investment in your professional development and training - Opportunity for greater leadership and accountability - Modern waterfront-based office - Paid parental and partner leave - Study assistance - Health and Wellbeing benefits - Professional memberships - Flexible working **Check out the benefits of working at AT
