Would you like to be a key player in the future provision of our City's parks and recreation facilities?
We are seeking a motivated individual with lots of initiative to provide the planning of recreation delivery that is sustainable, community focused and will enhance the value of parks throughout Christchurch. This is a fixed-term position of 6 months to cover parental leave.
With over 1300 parks dotted throughout the city, your experience in parks and recreation combined with your knowledge of legislation and planning processes will see you anticipating the requirements of customers and communities and delivering plans to enhance a wide variety of sports grounds, children's play facilities, walkways and other assets.
You'll have variety in your day-to-day activities working alongside community stakeholders, leading project teams and advising the Council on forward planning for the capital programme. As an enthusiastic team player, you'll provide technical and professional advice to other Parks staff and Council units as well as external stakeholders.
There will be opportunities to upskill both in-house and with involvement in industry led training opportunities to keep up to date and research national and international trends which will influence wider projects based on your own designs.

Whilst staff working at the Christchurch City Council are not currently required to be vaccinated, applicants need to be aware that should the COVID-19 environment change, roles across the organisation will be assessed, and the requirement to be vaccinated may be reviewed.
