Job Title: Industrial Designer

Location: Porirua, Wellington

Employment Type: Full-Time

Hours per week: guaranteed 30 to 40 hours per week.

Number of Vacancy: 1 position

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor or above qualification in design or at least 3 years relevant experience.
- Be a passionate and creative individual with a discerning eye for exceptional design.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong drive to see projects through from concept to completion without compromising on quality.
- Have a sound understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Passionate about product design and the design-led interiors market.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Producing concepts for new products that are innovative, feasible and suitable for manufacturing or production
- Creating technical specifications and user guides for mass or batch production
- Creating sketches, plans, diagrams and illustrations to communicate design ideas
- Creating and testing samples or physical prototypes of consumer product designs
- Supervising the creation of patterns, programmes and tooling in the manufacturing process
- Examining raw materials and production requirements to determine manufacturing costs
- Working with mechanical engineers to evaluate the cost of design concepts
- Researching the different ways consumers may use a product and determine who might use it
- Evaluating the function, appearance and safety features to determine if a product is feasible
- Presenting design mockups and prototypes to clients for evaluation and approval
- Liaising with clients and stakeholders to determine the objectives and constraints of the design brief
- Performing product research and determines the commercial, cultural and aesthetic requirements
- Negotiating design solutions with the management, sales and production staff and clients
- Selecting, specifying and recommending materials, production methods and product finishes.
