**About this role as an academic staff member**:
This is a permanent, full-time position.

You will be providing support for the vocational tutors of targeted programmes to embed literacy and numeracy teaching into their programmes. You will need to be an experienced teacher, driven and inspired to bring out the best in our tutors. With your positive attitude and proven experience, you will find the role very rewarding in more ways than one.

You’ll obviously need to be a people person, have great communication skills and, most importantly, be a team player. Plus, you’ll need to feel comfortable working for an organisation where people work together, take responsibility, and focus on quality in everything they do.

In this academic role, you will:

- meet the requirements of Te Pūkenga (Wintec) and Tertiary Education Commission Literacy policies.
- engage in tutor support to achieve the goals of the institute’s Ako Teaching and Learning Practices, as well as other related frameworks for Māori and Pacific learners.
- track Wintec’s literacy and numeracy performance to show compliance with the institute’s literacy and numeracy policy requirements.
- support foundational work-ready skills.
- develop tutor capability to implement literacy-development practices promoting and lifting outcomes for Māori and Pacific learners.
- implement an embedded approach to literacy and numeracy development in a range of vocational contexts.
