**Mō tēnei mahi | About this job**
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Kaimanaaki Tauira (Pastoral and Teaching Support) to join our team in a **permanent, full-time** (37.5 hours per week) basis, reporting to Raroera Campus but based in **Cambridge.**
In this rewarding role, you’ll be supporting tauira who need it most to build essential literacy, numeracy, and life skills, giving them the confidence and tools to re-engage with secondary schooling or take their next step into further education, training or employment.
Your day-to-day will involve:
- Working one-on-one with tauira to identify barriers and create personalised pathways to success
- Connecting tauira with social, health, education, and employment services to meet their wider needs
- Providing teaching relief when required, helping to create a safe, engaging learning environment
This role is about more than education - it’s about believing in young people, meeting them where they are, and helping them discover what’s possible.

You will also bring with you:
- Diploma (Level 5) or equivalent in Teaching, Social Services, or a related field
- National Certificate in Youth Work (Level 3/4), Social Services, Health, or a related field
- National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy (Level 5)
- Unit Standards 4098, 11281, and 18203
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Full, clean New Zealand Drivers’ Licence (P-class licence preferred)
- 2+ years’ experience teaching youth (15-19-year-olds) or working within Alternative Education, Social Work, or a related field
- Strong understanding and experience working with the Education Act, policies, and procedures
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
