**About the Role**
- Are you a qualified mechanical engineer looking for variety in your day-to-day work? This isn’t a standard workshop role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in a range of operational tasks—from gear maintenance, welding and safety checks to coordinating equipment logistics and supporting port operations.

**Location: Timaru Port**

**Status**:Monday to Friday 9 hour shifts with callout availability plus weekends when required

**Your job duties would be**:
- Maintain, repair, and prepare gearstore equipment for shipping cargo operations.- Perform safety checks and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.- Manage inventory, coordinate equipment delivery and recovery, and keep the gearstore tidy and operational.- Liaise with suppliers, operational teams, and maintenance staff to meet equipment needs.- Keep accurate records of maintenance, timesheets, and equipment requests.

**You will also need**:
- Level 3 Trade Certificate (minimum).- Mechanical engineering experience- Welding Experience- Physically fit and comfortable working both independently and in a team.- Strong communication and organisational skills.- Willingness to take on varied tasks and upskill through training.- Full driver’s licence and reliable transport.
