Fletcher Wood Products (FWP) is a newly established business within the Building Products division of Fletcher Building. The business represents our re-entry into the wood sector which is supported by strong macro trends and contributes to NZ’s goal of a low-carbon circular economy.
- Managing and overseeing the design process, ensuring compliance with specifications, regulations, and client requirements.
- Leading a team of talented designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and architects, to develop design strategies and solutions.
- Reviewing and evaluating design proposals, identifying potential issues or areas for improvement, and implementing necessary changes.
- Conducting regular design reviews, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Liaising with external design consultants, contractors, and suppliers to maintain effective communication and ensure seamless project delivery.
- Keeping up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design management, and incorporating them into project strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and fostering a culture of safety within the design team.

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or in a similar leadership role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of design principles, construction methodologies, and relevant software tools.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of successfully leading and developing a design team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
