Trust Account Assistant

**About the role**:
Chapman Tripp has a very high volume of Trust Account transactions each year, and on-boards many new clients. As the Trust Account Assistant, you will support the Trust Account Team Leader with all aspects of the firm’s trust accounting nationally, ensuring full compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Receiving and checking receipt and payment requests, preparing account journals, general Trust account requests, ensuring appropriate authorities have been obtained
- Daily bank reconciliation of the national Trust Account, including follow up of unknown or unclaimed deposits
- Pro-active management of the Trust Account and Trust Term Deposits
- Manage Trust to Office transfers for payment of Chapman Tripp invoices
- Manage dormant balances in accordance with regulations and procedures
- Monthly and quarterly reporting to the NZLS
- Preparation and despatch of annual Trust Account statements
- Ad-hoc support to the Compliance Manager and wider Accounts team
**Skills, Abilities and Experience Required**:
- Experience in an Accounts environment, ideally Trust exposure
- Professionalism, discretion and confidentiality
- Time-management, prioritisation and the ability to work autonomously
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Attention to detail and process-orientation
- Customer-service oriented with high composure and empathy
