In this attractive role you will utilise your strong initiative, technical leadership, relationship building and influential communication skills - working in conjunction with the sales team, to define customer requirements and develop winning technical solutions. **About the role**: - Utilise your technical expertise to obtain in-depth understanding of customer needs relative to products, technology, direction, competition, design process, design cycle and commercial value. - Work closely with a range of stakeholders across the business and within customer organisations - including Advanced Engineering, Design, Sales, Principal Engineers and Control Systems. - Discover design requirements to develop/execute technical strategies. - Operate as the technical voice of the customer when engaging with internal team members to create winning concepts. - You will be responsible for concept, budget and proposal generation. - Proactively align with the sales team in securing business. - Communicate with customers and suppliers. - Create presentations and other sales tools to become a "trusted advisor" to both internal and external customers. - Provide support with creation of project quotes/proposals which incorporate the customers requirements. - Manage the pricing and estimation of automation concepts. - Write proposal documents including, technical descriptions, delivery and commercial terms. - Develop concept CAD drawings and layouts which allow customers to visually understand. - There may be a requirement for international travel to key markets (USA, Europe, Australia). **About you**: - Experience in a similar role would be a major advantage - with a high level of engineering competence and knowledge of manufacturing processes. - You have a degree Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or other relevant qualification/s. - You have 5 years experience in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferable) design and concepting special purpose machinery and automation solutions. - Experience in a customer-facing engineering role is essential. - You bring the ability to concept, display lateral thinking and break down problems. - You are able to balance detail engineering with big picture thinking. - You have proven ability to influence stakeholders, both internally and externally. - You have an excellent command of written and spoken English - International experience and cultural awareness would be advantageous. - Effective communication ability and excellent collaboration skills are a must **Benefits**: You will also enjoy additional benefits such as: - Subsided Medical - Life and Disability Insurance - Onsite parking - Subsidised cafeteria - An additional days leave over Christmas - Discounted products - Employee Assistance Program - Parental Leave Payment - Sport and Cultural Leave - Flexible Working, Flextime, flexplace and flexday This is a superb opportunity to join an innovative and dynamic employer **To apply**: - An attractive salary, 4% employer Kiwisaver contribution plus excellent benefits - Influence innovative, leading edge solutions - Flexible environment with the potential for WFH/remote work
