A Data Engineer is a pivotal role within a cross-disciplined agile team. You will work alongside other engineers, architects, and product team members.
You will need a dedication to technical excellence in writing code, team collaboration, testing, and documentation. Good communication skills are essential, as well as a “can-do” attitude and willingness to work across various disciplines if required.
You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting our Visa Spend Clarity for Enterprise (VSCE) data delivery and billing systems while delivering to our platform modernisation strategy.
As part of this role, you will:
- Be working with SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, PowerShell, GitHub.
- Participate in technical design in collaboration with other developers, architects, and product team members.
- Provide operational support to other teams.
- Follow coding style standards and guidelines.
- Learn Visa Spend Clarity domain concepts.
- Write documentation.
- Knowledge sharing with other team members.
- Practice agile scrum methodology.
- Contribute to improving team agile processes.
- Participate in active learning with an open mind.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
**Qualifications**
Solid experience with:
(OLTP).
- Solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server.
- TSQL and stored procs with a deep understanding of coding these.
- Handling performance and concurrency.
- Data ETL/ELT transformation with SSIS.
- Data modelling and design experience.
Experience required in:
- Scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell).
- Data governance.
- CI/CD.
- Source control (e.g. Git, Subversion) and continuous integration (e.g.,
TeamCity).
- Performance troubleshooting and resolution.
- Working in an agile team environment.
Desired experience in:
- Data Analysis / Data Science
- .NET development
- Test automation
- Data warehousing
