Te Puni Kōkiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Māori. This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.

Our People, Capability and Culture tīma is looking for a **Kaitohutohu, Mana Tāngata | HR Advisor**. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Tari Matua, Pōneke | National Office, Wellington.

**Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity**

Our Kaitohutohu, Mana Tāngata | HR Advisor role offers an opportunity for an HR Advisor with 1-2 years of experience to develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment.

This is a true generalist role where you will work closely with the Principal HR Advisor and the wider tīma. You'll develop skills in the full spectrum of HR including performance management, employment relations and change management while developing relationships and networks across the organisation. When you are ready, there will be opportunity for you to own and lead pieces of work with support and guidance as you need.

The likely appointment range is $76,022 - $84,468, based on skills and experience. The full grade for this role is $76,022 - $101,362 with a mid-point of $84,468.

**Mōu | About you**

This position is ideal for someone with:

- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
- experience in public sector and some understanding of the machinery of government
- experience understanding and implementing policy
- effective communication skills
- comfort operating in a tikanga/kaupapa Māori environment
