- Develop, maintain and improve the delivery of the ICT infrastructure programme of work
- Lead the articulation and delivery of the ICT infrastructure programme
- Lead a small team of project professionals to delivery value and consistency in ICT project and programme delivery
- A new role in the Information Management Division (IMD) - Wellington based.
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Our Information Management Division (IMD) provides key services to the Ministry in the areas of knowledge and information technology management, ensuring that the Ministry has the digital tools it needs to enable day-to-day business. Our staff are committed to building a safe, more prosperous and sustainable future for all New Zealanders, assisting the government with international priorities and providing advice to the government on the implications for New Zealand of what is happening in the world.
The Project Delivery function in IMD provides fit-for-purpose programme/project management and coordination for the projects within the ICT Portfolio, including supplier management and the resource management of technical specialists from various IMD capability teams. The Delivery Lead/Programme Manager is responsible for:
- Ensuring that the scope and of the annual programme of works is well scoped
- Leadership and management of project staff, including working across the organisation to support the ongoing uplift of project and programme management practice
- Production of key programme level business cases
- Ensuring that associated projects that require specialised ICT resources are supported effectively to deliver
- Overseeing reporting from projects within the programme, resolving issues and escalating where required
- Partnership development with key project stakeholders
- Quality assurance across all projects through close interaction with the Ministry’s EPMO team
- Actively participating in the Ministry’s Project Management Community of Practice

We expect to appoint between $ 144,934 and the midpoint which is $170,510 (total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution) give or take depending on your level of experience.

We’d like to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:
- A minimum of ten years in portfolio / programme / project management.
- Experience delivering infrastructure and digital platform projects, in large, distributed environments including data centre changes, server upgrades, telephony replacement, video conferencing replacement.
- Experience working with diverse project teams and stakeholders.
- Recognised as collaborating well with peers and contributing to a wider organisational
- Ability to lead large multi-functional project teams, both onshore and offshore
- Experience in leading business change
- Ability to demonstrate you are outcome-orientated, meet timelines, and deliver scope within budget
Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Māori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Māori (the Māori worldview) into your work. If you are just starting on this journey that’s OK too - as long as you have a willingness to learn and a desire to develop your cultural capability.
