Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, you will be ensuring MBIE’s core systems are resilient and available for our organisation to conduct it’s day to day work.

**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
The Principal Operations Advisor is responsible for managing and supporting the successful day to day delivery of IT Operational Services through our suppliers in a largely outsourced environment.

Working closely with MBIE’s Digital Operations teams and key suppliers Service Delivery teams, the Principal Operations Advisor will ensure a high-quality service is provided to our end users and agreed business expectations are met, including on a 24/7 basis.

The position will facilitate and provide leadership and expert advice/guidance in the delivery of the outcomes for some of the key ITIL processes covering Incident, Technical Change, Problem Management, Knowledge Management and End User Computing (including Service Desk). The Principal Advisor acts as a key escalation point for issues relating to MBIE’s Digital Operations and assists with the inevitable 'extras' that come up irrespective of the multi-outsourced model in place.

- In depth knowledge and extensive experience in ICT operations and/or service delivery management including outsourced environments
- Experience in one or more of the following ITIL processes
- Incident Management
- Problem Management
- Technical Change Management
- End User Computer and Service Desk Management
- Continual Service Improvement
- Knowledge Management
- IT Security Management
- An analytical thinker who can make connections between various aspects of the organisation and the implications or potential risks for the Digital Operations branch and the customer
- Proven experience in the development of complex processes
- Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with managers, staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders
- Experienced in developing solutions to solve complex problems
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an environment focussed on continuous improvement to enhance IT performance
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written particularly business writing and reporting
- Understanding of the mechanics and decision-making processes of Government
