Our Recreation, Sports and Events teams are hiring now for a fixed-term Event Planning Advisor at Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre, our newest facility._
**About the role | Ko te mahi nei**
In this role, you'll significantly contribute to our vision of being the preferred city, venue and event hosting partner of choice for the New Zealand sporting whānau (players, officials, organisations and spectators). Some of the key responsibilities are:
- Working alongside event owners and Recreation Sport and Event staff to support the delivery of exceptional events for participants, officials and spectators - it's your job to make it easy.
- Liaising across teams to ensure staff and other facility users are aware of, and excited to, have high calibre events at Parakiore.
- Offering best practice Event Planning advice including Customer Flow, Access Management, Health and Safety Planning, Technology Requirements and Post-Event Debriefs to ensure safe and seamless event delivery.
- Providing expertise with event bidding when required.
- Attracting and encouraging retention of events by providing high-value, end-to-end solutions to event hirers, including National and Regional sporting partners.
- Delivering a branded customer experience that is actively engaging, inspires confidence and a can-do attitude.
**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**
Here are just a few of the things you'll need to be successful in this role:
- You will have previous experience in Event Planning at complex facilities - preferably in the recreation and sport industry;
- You will be well versed in the event eco system and bring those learnings to Ōtautahi;
- Ideally, you'll have practical knowledge of customer flow and traffic management to ensure solid plans are established with event owners;
- Your exceptional customer service will deliver a warm and friendly face of the Recreation, Sport and Event Unit at the Christchurch City Council;
- You will have strong interpersonal skills to ensure relationships established and maintained are mutually beneficial;
- A sporting background is required, along with a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of sports and recreational activities.
- Collaboration within the team and fostering a culture of unity across the facility are essential to ensuring smooth operations.
- A meticulous approach to planning and a process-driven mindset are key—from event run sheets to post-event evaluations.

**Additional Information | Ko ētahi atu kōrero**:
- ** Hours of work**: Monday to Friday, with some weekend work required as needed.
- ** Position**: Fixed-term for 12 months, full-time.
- ** Location**:This role will be based at Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre, 50 St Asaph St. However, during the establishment phase, you will work from Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street and across our network of facilities.
