Camera Td

We are now looking for a talented Camera TD to join Wētā’s Camera Department, working onsite from our Wellington office.

Located in Wellington's breezy Lyall Bay, Wētā FX's hard working Camera Department comprises of 24 talented artists with two friendly production crew in support. We work across a wide range of franchise and independent content, providing camera tracks and rotomations to service the downstream departments of this award-winning company.

As a Camera TD you’ll be working on a diverse range of projects and will have a solid understanding of 3D and Maya (or have similar transferable skills). Your role will include, but not be limited to, recreating plate-based cameras, animating 3D puppets to replicate character movement, matching hard surface props (e.g. vehicles, weapons) and animating soft bodies (e.g. cloth) to provide a solid base for downstream departments.

**As a Camera TD you will have**:

- An enthusiasm for plate photography and puppet animation.
- A willingness to learn.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Creative problem solver skills, who is organized and critical of your own work.
- Thorough understanding of 3D.
- Basic to medium level rotomations - animating 3D puppets to replicate character or hard surface props, movement.
- Good Maya knowledge (modelling and keyframe animation).
- General understanding of Photography and the technical aspects of cameras.
- Preferably some 3D Equalizer, Nuke and RealityCapture experience.
- An understanding of Linux based operating systems.
