**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

This role is foremost the “thought leader” and technical expert in payroll. This role will be the guardian of the payroll experience ensuring people are paid correctly and on time so that Te Whatu Ora can say it delivers on its promises to its people.

Alongside this, the role has leadership of the key processes which enable payroll to be successful and leadership of the front door of HR so that managers and employees have an excellent experience through the provision of HR services this role is responsible for.

This role will lead the delivery of excellent service while also ensuring that these services are provided in an economic way, through continuous improvement of both processes and use of technology to enable efficient, effective service delivery.

***Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Has significant years' experience in managing payroll including technical payroll experience in a variety of settings (in the range of 10+ years). Including a preference for leading a large-scale technology implementation, including payroll and rostering. Is a recognised leader in Payroll.
- In-depth understanding of HR, employment law and managing a diverse range of HR professionals
- Experience leading leaders and other senior staff, including building capability, lifting performance of a team/unit, and creating a team culture in which people proactively try new approaches, learn, and develop and find ways to continuously improve in their area of expertise.
- Experience developing and implementing effective group/team strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives.
- Can demonstrate they have given meaningful effect to the expectations outlined in Te Tiriti o Waitangi in their position(s)/at a leadership level. Previous responsibility at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.
