The team in this large public (DHB) Auckland Hospital will offer a supportive and collaborative team with a planned and organised approach to care delivery. The diverse team offers experience from all over the world.
This is a specialist high acuity area of nursing. CV ICU is the only specialist Tertiary Referral Centre in New Zealand for ECMO, transplants and ventricular assist devices. They are the major cardiac referral centre for New Zealand.
Day to day they are caring for post operative cardiac surgical patients along with acute admissions for cardiac, thoracic and vascular patients from Auckland and all across New Zealand. Some of the areas they cover are: cardiac pacing, advanced assessment skills, intra aortic balloon pumps, hemofiltration, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, advanced life support, inotropic and other pharmacologic supports and transport of the critically ill.
CVHDU is a progression pathway for those with no experience in this area to move through to CVICU. They have dedicated Nurse Educators in both CVICU and CVHDU to assist with facilitated professional development of staff. They are able to offer subsidised postgraduate education.
This client has a 1:1 nurse to patient ratio for ICU patients and 1:2 nurse to patient ratio for HDU patients.
They offer flexible rostering (12 or 8 hour shifts), and comprehensive orientation program customised to each individual.
