Auckland City Hospital is a 750 bed acute general hospital which provides secondary services to central Auckland and is the provider of most tertiary services to the Auckland and Northland regions and a number of national Quaternary services. We are the major teaching hospital of the University of Auckland faculty of medical and health sciences.

The Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) is one of two adult intensive care units at Auckland City Hospital. The DCCM currently has 17 funded beds, 13 intensive care and 4 high dependency beds. We are currently in a phase of expansion and plan to open another 6-7 ICU beds. We have greater than 1500 admissions a year and our caseload comprises general intensive care, neuro intensive care, trauma, tertiary surgical services and abdominal organ transplantation. Cardiothoracic and vascular intensive care is provided in the Cardiovascular ICU.
- **Have an ICU qualification that is recognised for specialist registration in New Zealand**:

- **Have tertiary level intensive care knowledge and skills to care for ICU and ward patients**:

- **Participate in a rotating senior medical staff roster**:

- **Participate in junior medical staff and nursing staff supervision and teaching**:

- **Participate in intensive care unit activities related to quality, data, audit and research**

**You will either have registration or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.**
