**Road Safety team**

Our road safety teams are responsible for developing and helping to deliver road safety improvements that are aligned to AT's Vision Zero Strategy and Waka Kotahi's Road to Zero programme, as an Engineer in this team you will help to shape the safety outcomes for the Auckland Region and in this role would see you carrying out the following responsibilities
- Identify and investigate safety concerns and develop safety projects that will reduce deaths and serious injuries at high risk intersection and corridors and developing projects that assist with vulnerable road users.
- Work closely with our strategic partners to create safety programmes that are aligned with Vision Zero, these include high risk corridors and intersections, vulnerable road users and speed management.
- Be a strong safety advocate on major projects across Auckland Transport. This will involve engaging with key stakeholders and our wider community and providing feedback and advice.
- Provide guidance for designs and manage or consultants who provide support for our programmes

**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Bachelor's Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Engineering.
- Ideally 2 year's relevant experience in aspects of traffic engineering including analysis, investigation, planning and delivery.
- Accreditation with relevant professional body desirable.
- Full and current NZ drivers licence with no major infringements (must be able to drive a manual vehicle).
- Experience in use of traffic simulation tools preferred.
- Fluency in the use of crash analysis systems (CAS) and ability to interpret and analyse information.
- Established and utilised effective systems and processes to monitor financial performance.
- Identified risks and taken action to mitigate potential or actual negative financial consequences.
- A good understanding and appreciation of the workings and functions of local government, including current and future business drivers and statutory requirements
