**Who are we**:
We manage the drinking water, wastewater, and storm water services from source to sea for our client councils, who are the Hutt, Porirua, Upper Hutt and Wellington city councils, South Wairarapa District Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council. We partner with the community, engineering consultants and contractors on water services projects, water conservation, operations work and asset planning.
The Customer Operations Group leads the operations and maintenance of the network on behalf of client councils and is the first point of contact in responding to client and customer requests. The group’s outcomes are delivered through an innovative alliance, comprising people and resources from Wellington Water and Fulton Hogan working together to achieve high-performance for the Wellington community.
**Where you come in**:
You will assist the team to ensure that the Wellington region’s Bulk Water network is meeting the needs of the region in an environmentally safe and hygienic manner. In addition, the role contributes to the achievement of outputs and outcomes as contained in the region’s Long-term Council Community Plan (LTCCP), Annual Plan, Service Level Agreements and other relevant documents.
**To be successful, you will have**
- A full clean New Zealand class 1 licence, NZQA Level 2 Literacy and other unit standards
- Proven experience of working in construction environments
- Ability to record data, including using paper, hand-held computer or tablet
- Competency in the use of hand and power tools with a knowledge of plant and equipment capabilities
- Building or Mechanical skills preferably within water industry
- Experienced in grounds maintenance and an understanding of ISO 9000/14000
- Knowledge of Health and Safety management practices
To compliment this you will have excellent communication skills, particularly with the general public alongside awareness of and commitment to health and safety. You'll also possess the ability to use technology to manage work and ultimately planning, time management and organisational skills. Ultimately you will be required to attain Water Reticulation Level 3 qualification and undertake the following training:
- TMO and Universal STMS Category A
- Confined Space, Working at Heights and Disinfection Procedures
- Envirowise, StaySafe, Constructsafe and First Aid
- Unit Standard 31448 Operate Small Plant for Infrastructure Works
