**ABOUT THE POSITION**:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our incredibly talented Engineering team in our Christchurch operation.

You will be responsible for leading, converting and delivering design briefs as supplied into design details and working drawings. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with leadership qualities who is confident in their ability to take ownership in a team environment.

**KEY RESPONSBILITIES INCLUDE**:

- Using Solidworks to convert and deliver design briefs / project objectives into design details and working drawings.
- Managing (as required) the work of assigned Design Engineers/Graduate Engineers and provide expertise in technical advice when needed.
- Setting up and testing mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems at any Scott site or customer site if required.
- Liaising with the workshop and contractors during the construction of any equipment designed to ensure smooth and trouble-free manufacture.
- Maintaining effective records and documentation.
- Certifying all technical documentation pertaining to all projects.

**TO BE A GREAT MATCH FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED**:

- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5 years + previous experience in Industrial Automation design.
- The ability to design, document (in AutoCad or Draft Sight) and commission Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems specific to the automation industry.
- The ability to make and explain sound decisions.
- Strong people management ability.
- Great communication upward and downward in the company and with customers.
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally.
- The ability to work in New Zealand.
