Principal Asset Engineer

Auckland Transport is on a journey to become more aligned to our customer needs, more agile in responding to strategic shifts and more focused on delivering services and programmes to make Auckland a more vibrant city.
The role will be adaptable and flexible across the asset classes within public transport and will lead in monitoring the condition of assets and developing maintenance, renewals, replacements, and growth-related work programmes. The role will also support the setting and maintenance of asset standards and processes, and participate in reviewing infrastructure asset designs in ensuring value engineering and reduced long term maintenance needs are considered.
**Key Responsibilities include**:
- Provide expert advice in relation to asset renewal and maintenance strategies, practices, and programming
- Support the corporate review of standards and specifications (e.g. design, products, maintenance contracts) for assets within the portfolio, including advising on whole of life costs and risks
- Develop and review levels of service to support asset management functions
- Coach, mentor, motivate and provide technical leadership to the team to achieve effective and efficient delivery of
- Design and implement asset management and business process improvement programmes
**We are looking for**:
- A tertiary qualification is required in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in transport infrastructure asset management.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in contract procurement, management and delivery.
- Experience in the inspection, investigation, monitoring, assessment and design of buildings, marine (e.g. wharves) and other civil structures.
- Experience working in the marine structure environment will be an advantage.
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with membership with Engineering New Zealand or equivalent relevant professional body is desired.
