**About the role**

This is a fixed-term position for the period of 29/07/24 - 27/01/25. The Non Training Registrar post involves hands on exposure to a wide variety of eye conditions, principally in the acute setting but there is also some time spent in clinics and a little theatre exposure. There is some component of service work within the ophthalmology ward (Totara Ward) and in pre-admit clinics.

As a Non Training Registrar you will help supervise house-surgeons and aid in the day to day running of the Acute Referral Clinic and the Emergency Eye Clinic. You will have assistance and supervision from the on-call registrar and the on-call consultant.

**Eligibility Criteria**
- Have a strong interest in ophthalmology and ideally experience in an ophthalmology run
- Must have completed two House Officer Years.
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Please check the RANZCO website for further information regarding eligibility for the Ophthalmology Training Programme, should you wish to continue on to vocational training in ophthalmology after you gain the required Non Training experience.
