**ABOUT THE TEAM**:
About the Team: Join our dynamic Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) group, where we implement cutting-edge solutions across the Neutron launch vehicle, from the fairing nose cap to the engine bells. Our mission is to safeguard the vehicle structure from thermal loads during ascent and reentry. As an intern, you'll contribute to characterizing TPS materials, refining manufacturing and integration methods, and enhancing design features to boost the capability and reusability of our launch vehicles.

**WHAT YOU'LL GET TO WORK ON**:
You will be involved in one of the following exciting projects:
**1. MTPS Testing & Verification**:

- Conduct thermal testing activities and explore alternative materials for the Metallic Thermal Protection System (MTPS) stack-up.
- Perform bench-scale torch testing and full-scale integrated article testing under representative thermal environments.

**2. Sub-Scale ETPS Manufacture & Testing**:

- Deliver a prototype an Engine Boot Thermal Protection System (ETPS) from a domestic NZ vendor and validate its mechanical and thermal performance against benchmarks.
- Manage the delivery of a prototype engine boot, including manufacturing support, resolution of DFM items, and design modifications.
- Undertake testing and verification of construction quality through mechanical testing of soft goods.
- Analyze prototype articles and TPS design features for performance optimization.

**3. Hypersonic Material Test Method Investigation**:

- Design and test integrated sub-scale articles of Thermal Protection Systems in a hypersonic flow regime.
- Support testing efforts and undertake characterization and standardization of the test methodology.
- Analyze integration methods, test article geometry, and material stack for improvements and test optimization.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**:

- **Current student in one of the following fields: Aerospace / Aeronautical / Astronautical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering.**:

- **Completed Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer Coursework**:

- **Experience with CAD & Mechanical design.**:

- **Prior experience in testing, data acquisition, and manufacturing.**:

- **Experience with python for data processing and general analysis**:

- **Involvement in FSAE, rocketry, or maker space projects.**

**REQUIREMENT**:
**Available to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning November 2025.**
